Apple Releases Update to Address iPhone Overheating Issue

Apple Releases Update to Address iPhone Overheating Issue

Apple has finally addressed the overheating problem that has been plaguing iPhone 15 models since their launch. In the latest iOS update, version 17.0.3, Apple has included a fix for the mysterious overheating issue that has rendered some handsets too hot to handle. Along with this fix, the update also includes patches for two security issues.

The Overheating Problem

Since the release of the iPhone 15 models on September 12, numerous complaints have been lodged regarding an overheating problem. Social media has been flooded with videos of users temperature checking their iPhone 15 Pros, with temperatures reaching as high as 42 degrees Celsius. This issue has caused concerns among customers about potential damage to their batteries.

An unnamed Apple spokesperson previously mentioned that certain apps, such as Instagram, Uber, and Asphalt 9, could cause the devices to run warmer than normal. However, Apple's latest update, iOS 17.0.3, claims to address this problem and prevent iPhones from running warmer than expected.

Additional Security Fixes

Aside from addressing the overheating issue, Apple's iOS 17.0.3 update also includes fixes for two security vulnerabilities. The first fix is for a kernel exploit that could be used by an attacker with local access to the device. Apple warns that this exploit may have been actively used against iOS versions prior to 16.6. The second security fix addresses a libvpx bug that could potentially allow remote takeover of a device.

How to Update Your iPhone

To ensure your iPhone is up to date with the latest fixes and improvements, follow these easy steps:

  1. Plug your iPhone into a power socket and connect it to a Wi-Fi network.
  2. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
  3. Tap "Download and Install".
  4. Choose whether to update immediately or let the update install automatically overnight while you sleep.
  5. Enter your passcode if prompted.

If your iPhone doesn't have enough storage space for the update, Apple may ask if it can temporarily remove some apps from your device. Rest assured, Apple will reinstall any deleted apps, along with any data you had stored on them.
