Usyk Set to Retire Soon as Fury Showdown Looms

Oleksandr Usyk, the undefeated Ukrainian boxer, has revealed that he doesn't plan on boxing for much longer, despite being on the verge of making history. Usyk is set to take on Tyson Fury in a highly anticipated match-up to determine the undisputed heavyweight champion. However, the 36-year-old doesn't intend to follow in the footsteps of boxing legends who fought into their 40s.

Usyk's Retirement Plans

Usyk's promoter, Alexander Krassuyk, has stated that the boxer has around three years left at his best before retiring. The only concern is Usyk's health, which could potentially pose a problem. However, if his body holds up, Usyk may continue fighting beyond that timeframe. Krassuyk explains that Usyk has never experienced retirement and still has the spirit of a young fighter.

The Fury Showdown

Usyk's clash with Tyson Fury, initially scheduled for April, will now take place on February 17 in Saudi Arabia. Both fighters will have to resist the temptation of indulging in festive treats during their training. Fury, in particular, laments the timing of the fight, as it means he will have a less enjoyable Christmas. Despite this, he plans to make the most of the situation and still celebrate with his family.
