From Bare-Knuckle Boxing to Podcasting and Acting
Derek "Decca" Heggie, born in Carlisle in Cumbria on November 22, 1983, started his career as a bare-knuckle boxer. After retiring, he shifted his focus to podcasting and acting. Heggie presents the Official All of Nothing Podcast and has interviewed notorious and controversial figures from around the world. He has also been vocal about his struggles with mental health and drug addiction, even publishing an autobiography titled "Prizefighter – The Searing Autobiography of Britain's Bareknuckle Boxing Champion" in 2018.
The Fight Record and Controversy
Heggie had an unbeaten record of 15 fights before retiring from bare-knuckle boxing. However, he admitted that his first three fights were illegal. Bare-knuckle boxing is often associated with the underworld. The sport is brutal, as seen in a 2021 fight between Heggie and Danny Christie, where both fighters were covered in blood after a ten-minute non-stop battle in a boxing gym. Bare-knuckle boxing has a long history in Britain, dating back to 1641.
Deportation Controversy in the Philippines
Recently, it was revealed that Heggie is facing deportation from the Philippines due to alleged details of a past criminal conviction. However, a UK source stated that the information does not match Heggie's record in the UK. The Philippine Bureau of Immigration regularly deports individuals they consider undesirable, and Heggie may fall into this category. Heggie has denied any wrongdoing and vowed to fight the deportation.
Acting Career and Film Credits
Aside from his boxing and podcasting endeavors, Heggie has also appeared in several films. His acting credits include roles in "The Corrupted" (2019), "My Name is Lenny" (2017), "Twist" (2021), and Netflix's "Jagame Thandhiram" (2021). He also had a guest appearance in two episodes of "Bulletproof" in 2020, available on Amazon.
