Tottenham midfielder James Maddison recently shared the story of how he and his former teammates were denied a Christmas party after a colleague took the money to a rival club. Maddison, who joined Spurs from Leicester City in a £45 million move over the summer, made the revelation during an appearance on Sky's popular TV show, A League of Their Own.
The Betrayal
Maddison explained that Leicester City's winger Marc Albrighton, who was responsible for collecting penalty fines, had taken the money with him when he went on loan to West Brom last season. This meant that the funds for the Christmas party never made it back to the team. Albrighton, a key player in Leicester's Premier League-winning squad of 2016, returned to the club this season following their relegation.
Maddison's Humorous Take
Maddison jokingly pointed at the camera during the show and said, "He'll be watching as well, we want that!" The incident provided a lighthearted moment on the show and gave fans a glimpse of the camaraderie among players.
A Festive Season Rematch?
With Leicester City currently leading the Championship, there is a possibility of another Christmas party in the cards for the team. As the festive season approaches, fans will have their eyes on the Foxes to see if they can secure another celebration.
