Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi Reunite at Inter Miami
Luis Suarez, the former Barcelona star, has reportedly agreed to join Inter Miami to reunite with his close friend Lionel Messi. The Uruguayan and Messi played together at Barcelona from 2014-2020, winning the Treble together in 2015. Now, they could join forces once again in the twilight of their careers at David Beckham's Inter Miami.
January Move on the Cards
According to Spanish outlet El Pais, Suarez has been in contact with Inter Miami and is considering a move in January. The MLS club has offered him a one-year deal to link up with Messi and former Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. Suarez is expected to travel to Miami next month to finalize the deal once his contract with Gremio expires.
Retirement a Possibility
However, Suarez's future is uncertain due to a knee injury that has plagued his time at Gremio. The 36-year-old striker could decide to retire instead of continuing to play. He has already shortened his Gremio contract by a year due to the ongoing problem, which requires daily injections and special treatments.
Inter Miami's Recent Success
Inter Miami had a challenging season, finishing second bottom in the Eastern Conference. However, the arrival of Messi had a significant impact, and the team won the Leagues Cup. Gerardo Martino also joined as manager midway through the season and achieved nine wins out of 22 games in charge.
