Lionel Messi accused of revealing his 'true personality' since World Cup win

Lionel Messi accused of revealing his true personality since World Cup win

Former PSG player claims Messi has been 'caught out' and needs more humility

Lionel Messi, the Argentine football legend, has been accused of showing his "true personality" by a former Paris Saint-Germain player. The 36-year-old, who captained Argentina to World Cup victory last December and recently joined Inter Miami in the MLS, has been criticized for his behavior on and off the pitch. Jerome Rothen, a retired French international, suggests that Messi's image has changed from being a fan favorite to somewhat of a villain. He also believes that Messi needs to show more humility.

Change in behavior since winning the World Cup

Rothen claims that Messi has acted differently since his glory days at Barcelona's Nou Camp and winning the World Cup. He alleges that Messi and Rodrygo were involved in a spat during Argentina's recent win in Brazil, with Messi accused by some media outlets of making a smug remark to his rival. Rothen suggests that Messi's true personality is coming out and he has been "caught" in his behavior.

Messi's perceived arrogance and lack of class

Rothen criticizes Messi's behavior and suggests that he believes himself to be superior to others. He argues that Messi's arrogance is reflected in the behavior of the entire Argentine team. Rothen believes that Messi no longer deserves the Ballon d'Or and that it should have been awarded to Manchester City's Erling Haaland instead. He states that Messi is not the number one in any criterion, even though he won the World Cup, and that Haaland's achievements with Manchester City surpass Messi's.
