Woman Forced to Change Name to Stop iPhones Reacting

Personal trainer Siri Price has been forced to change her name due to constant iPhone pinging whenever someone calls out to her. Previously, the voice-activated assistant required the full phrase "Hey Siri" to be triggered. However, a recent update changed that so users only need to say "Siri" for their devices to respond.

Unbearable Situation

Price, now known as Siz, stated that her workmates had to find a workaround because people's phones were constantly going off. She expressed her frustration, saying, "My workmates had to sit down and think of a workaround because people's phones have been going off non-stop." She added, "Now people can't even say my name. I'm absolutely fuming."

Double-Tech Trigger

This is not the first time someone has had to deal with a name triggering a digital assistant. In February, a woman named Alexa Seary revealed that having the same name as Amazon's virtual assistant was a "waking nightmare." Apple's decision to shorten the activating phrase for Siri now puts it in the same category as Amazon's "Alexa."

Different Approaches

While Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa respond to single-word activation, Google's assistant still requires users to say "Hey Google" or "OK Google" to prevent accidental activation. The different approaches aim to maintain privacy and prevent unwanted responses from the virtual assistants.
