Sky to Launch New Channel, Replacing Pick on Freeview

Sky to Launch New Channel, Replacing Pick on Freeview

In an exciting move, SKY is reportedly planning to replace its free-to-air channel Pick on Freeview after 12 years. But don't worry, the change comes with a brand new Sky-branded channel that will offer premium shows.

Shuffling Channels and Rebranding

As part of the shake-up, Sky Arts will move down to Freeview number 36, while Sky Mix will take its current slot at number 11. This means that Pick will effectively rebrand to Sky Mix, offering viewers a taste of some of Sky's more premium shows from Sky Atlantic and Sky Witness.

New Shows on the Horizon

Rumor has it that the new channel will feature popular shows such as Merlin, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Border Patrol, and Ghost Whisperer. But that's not all! It's expected to include HBO's True Detective ahead of its fourth series coming out early next year.

Available Platforms and Launch Date

Currently available on Freesat, Sky, and Virgin Media, Pick will soon be replaced with Sky Mix on these platforms as well. The new channel is also expected to launch in HD, although it will remain in SD (standard definition) on Freeview. Reports suggest that the launch is scheduled for October 18 at 11 am.

Following in Sky Sports Mix's Footsteps

This move isn't the first of its kind for Sky. The company previously introduced Sky Sports Mix, a channel that showcases some sport content for free, although it's only available on Sky.
