RUSSIAN Cybercrime Group Claims to Have Hacked Sonys Systems and Demands Ransom

Cyber Security Connect Reveals the Alleged Breach

A Russian cybercrime group called Ransomed.vc has claimed responsibility for hacking all of Sony's systems, including those associated with PlayStation, and is now holding customer data for ransom. This information was first reported by Australian website Cyber Security Connect.

Group Declares: "We Will Sell the Data"

Ransomed.vc, the group behind the hack, has stated that instead of ransoming the data, they will sell it due to Sony's refusal to pay. The hackers have even provided screenshots as proof of their successful compromise, although experts at Cyber Security Connect have described these as lacking compelling information.

Sony Investigates the Claims

Sony is currently investigating the situation and has not released any further comments at this time. The tech giant remains cautious, as it is still unclear whether the hack is legitimate or not.

Hackers Threaten to Release Stolen Data

The stolen data, reportedly around 6,000 compromised files, is said to be in Japanese. The cybercriminals are threatening to publish this data online if their demands are not met by September 28. The hackers have provided contact details for Sony to reach out to them.

A Reminder of the 2011 Sony Hack

The last major hack involving Sony occurred in 2011 and resulted in the compromise of data from 77 million users.
