Rugby World Cup Fans Furious as ITVX app crashes

iOS 17 and iOS 16 users affected

Rugby World Cup fans were left in a state of rage over the weekend as the popular ITVX app crashed, leaving users unable to access the much-anticipated matches. What's even more frustrating is that the problem is still ongoing, with users reporting continued issues with the app. And it's not just those who have updated to the new iOS 17 who are suffering - some iOS 16 users are also experiencing similar problems.

Twitter explodes with complaints

Twitter was flooded with complaints from disgruntled users who were unable to watch the rugby matches on their iPhones. One user wrote, "Can't watch the rugby, pretty ridiculous that your app is still down after two days on my iPhone." While another vented, "Why buy the right to the rugby when your app doesn't work and hasn't for a few days? It's useless and disappointing." A third user pleaded for a solution, saying, "Want to watch the Rugby World Cup. Every other streaming app on my iPad works great except yours! Do something about this buffering issue, please. And don't start with restart the router nonsense!"

Temporary fixes, but crash returns

Some users discovered that uninstalling and reinstalling the app temporarily resolved the issue. However, once they exited the app and returned later, the crash reappeared. Frustrating, to say the least.

ITV promises a fix

In response to the complaints, ITV support staff have assured users that a fix is on its way. "This will be resolved later on today, our tech team will be releasing a new update for the app, which will resolve this issue," they tweeted. In the meantime, users can manually check the App Store for an update by searching ITVX and looking for a blue Update button.
