Apple has recently released its new iOS 17 update, introducing a range of new features for iPhone users. However, it seems that many iPhone owners were not aware that they have been using Siri, iMessage, and Safari incorrectly all this time.
Siri gets an upgrade
Siri, Apple's voice assistant, has received a major upgrade in iOS 17, making tasks easier and faster for iPhone users. Instead of saying "Hey, Siri," users can now simply say "Siri." Additionally, when giving Siri multiple commands, users no longer need to address the assistant more than once. Instead, they can list their commands in a bullet-point style without using the word "and" to connect them.
Check In feature in iMessage
iMessage, Apple's native messaging app, now includes a new feature called Check In, which could potentially be a lifesaver. This feature allows iPhone users to alert their trusted contacts when they have reached a destination safely. If the user stops making progress or fails to respond to a Check In notification, their friend will receive helpful information such as the user's location, battery level, and mobile service status. To use this feature, simply open the Messages app, tap the pen and paper icon, and select Check In from the options.
Secret Safari tabs with passcode or Face ID
Now, iPhone users can hide their private Safari searches behind a passcode or Face ID. Safari's Private Browsing feature allows users to browse the web without their history or cookies being saved. This feature prevents embarrassing searches from appearing in the search bar of a regular Safari browser. However, these private tabs remain visible in Safari unless manually closed. With iOS 17, users can now lock the Private Browsing section of Safari by enabling the "Require Face ID to Unlock Private Browsing" toggle in Settings.
