iPhone 15 Pro Models Overheating: Tips to Cool Down Your Device

Users of the newly released iPhone 15 Pro models are reporting a disturbing issue - their devices are overheating. Just weeks after the highly anticipated Apple devices hit the market, some customers are already disappointed with their performance. Social media platforms are flooded with complaints that the iPhones are not only shutting down due to overheating but are also becoming too hot to handle.

What Users Are Saying

According to engineer turned tech content creator Mohit Verma, the natural titanium iPhone 15 Pro becomes extremely hot, making it difficult to hold. Verma wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "It heats up after just a two-minute FaceTime call or when scrolling through reels for eight-10 minutes. This is a new issue for me, as I've never encountered this with any previous phone." In a video, Verma recorded temperature readings on his iPhone 15 Pro, which showed it reaching highs of 42 degrees Celsius.

Another report from Apple Hub stated that even sitting on the Home Screen for as little as two minutes caused the device to overheat. The worry among users is that this overheating may cause long-lasting battery damage or motherboard issues.

Confirmation from Fellow Tech Bloggers

Alex Gear & Tech, a respected tech blogger, expressed his frustration with this issue, stating that it prevents him from charging his device. In a tweet, he wrote, "Charging stopped again as the iPhone 15 Pro Max was too hot. This time sitting idle at my desk, charging via USB-C." In a temperature check video, Alex's device reached highs of 102 degrees Fahrenheit, which is almost 39 degrees Celsius.

Possible Software Issue

There are suggestions that the overheating problem might be a software issue associated with the iOS 17 update. Industry insiders are convinced that Apple needs to address this problem urgently.

SE has contacted Apple for comment on this matter.

Six Tips to Keep Your Phone Cool

While it is frustrating to spend between £999 and £1,199 on an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max only to have it struggle with just a few minutes of social media scrolling, there are ways to alleviate the overheating issue. Here are six tips to keep your phone cool:

  • Enable the auto-brightness feature in Settings
  • Turn off Bluetooth
  • Close apps that use location services, like Safari and Maps
  • Turn off AirDrop
  • Avoid high-intensity activities like gaming apps or HD streaming
  • In extreme cases, turn off Wi-Fi
