Users of the popular dating app Grindr were left frustrated and unable to refresh the app after a widespread outage. The app, which is highly popular among the LGBTQ+ community, experienced a mystery technical issue that affected thousands of users.
Global Disruption?
The issue was first flagged by users who reported the problem to Down Detector, a website that tracks online service outages. Reports of the Grindr outage started pouring in around 7pm UK time, with users from the UK, Europe, and the US all claiming to be affected. It is currently unknown if the issue is global or limited to specific regions.
User Frustration
As of 7pm GMT on October 3, over 1,000 reports were registered on Down Detector's UK site, indicating the scale of the problem. Users took to social media to express their frustration, with one user asking if anyone else was experiencing the issue with Grindr. Many users complained of being unable to refresh the app, while others simply asked if Grindr was down for anyone else.
Despite the numerous complaints, Grindr has yet to provide an explanation or respond to user queries on Twitter, where many users took to seeking answers.
