‘Football is for everyone’ Arsenal superstar Ian Wright says on mixed-gender teams

Arsenal Legend's Stance on Mixed-Gender Teams

Arsenal legend and EA Sports FC Ambassador Ian Wright has voiced his support for the controversial addition of women players in EA Sports FC 24's Ultimate Team.

Enthusiasm for Women in Ultimate Team

Wright is excited about the inclusion of women players from various leagues in Ultimate Team, stating, "It’s a beautiful thing, football is for everybody, so it’s great to see that it’s finally being recognized on this level."

Retired but Still a Choice for Teams

Despite retiring in 2000, Ian Wright is still available as a player choice in Ultimate Team Icons. The first female Icon in the game is Wright’s former clubmate and friend Kelly Smith.

Wright's Pride in the Advancements

Wright expresses his pride for the advancements made in the recognition of female players, stating, "It’s fantastic for the Icons...to see it on a level playing field now for people playing the game with [UT], it’s brilliant."

Quality Players to Consider for Your Team

Wright highlights top female players such as Lauren James, Lauren Hemp, Chloe Kelly, and Leah Williamson as worthy additions to any team.

Ignoring the Negativity

Despite criticism from some players, Wright advises not to pay attention to those who are negative about mixed-gender teams. He emphasizes the growing support for the women’s game and the need to focus on the positive impact it can have on football as a whole.

Positive Reception from Players

Many players have welcomed the addition of women players in Ultimate Team, with some expressing disappointment that highly-rated player Ada Hegerberg was removed.
