Amazon Shutting Down Free Streaming App Amp

Amazon Shutting Down Free Streaming App Amp

Tech Giant Amazon is pulling the plug on its live radio app, Amp, which allowed users to create their own music shows.

Amazon has announced that it will be shutting down its free streaming app, Amp. The app, which was launched in March 2022, allowed users to create their own music shows by accessing millions of licensed tracks and putting them into their own playlists to broadcast live. The decision to close Amp was not made quickly or easily, according to Amazon.

Reasons for Closure Remain Unclear

While it is not clear why Amazon has decided to shut down Amp, lack of interest could be a contributing factor. According to the Google Play Store, the app has been downloaded over 50,000 times. In addition, Amazon reduced the number of staff working on the project by half last year as part of cost-cutting measures.

Disappointment Expressed by Fans on Social Media

Fans of Amp have taken to social media to express their disappointment. Some users referred to Amp as "Amazon's best creation yet" and called the decision to shut it down "truly disappointing" and "a horrible mistake."

Spotify Shut Down Similar App Earlier This Year

It is worth noting that Spotify had a similar app called Spotify Live, which also shut down earlier this year.
