Tottenham Outcast Djed Spence's Championship Loan Cancelled and Put Up for Sale Over Attitude Issues

Tottenham Outcast Djed Spences Championship Loan Cancelled and Put Up for Sale Over Attitude Issues

Leeds United Terminates Loan Deal

Leeds United has terminated Djed Spence's loan deal, prompting Tottenham to immediately put him up for sale. The England Under-21 full-back was signed by Tottenham from Middlesbrough in August 2022 for £20m after an impressive loan spell at Nottingham Forest.

Struggles at Tottenham and Leeds

However, Spence only made four Premier League appearances for Tottenham before being sent on loan to French side Rennes for the second half of last season. This campaign, he joined Leeds on a season-long loan but only managed to play seven times for the Championship team.

Concerns Over Attitude

Spence's attitude has been a topic of concern throughout his career, with Leeds boss Daniel Farke also raising concerns. The player's time-keeping has been particularly problematic, according to reports. Tottenham reportedly shares similar reservations about Spence's attitude.

Tottenham Searching for New Club

Tottenham is almost certain to look for a new club for Spence before the end of the January transfer window. Despite injuries impacting his performance in the first half of the season, Leeds decided to end the loan. Farke spoke about professionalism and discipline without directly criticizing Spence.

Unlucky Circumstances

Farke explained that Spence faced challenges, arriving late in pre-season and suffering a long-term injury that kept him out of team training for 8.5 weeks. This made it difficult for him to settle in and integrate into the group. Farke emphasized that while it didn't work out, Spence still has good potential.
