Sunderland Footballer Jack Diamond Denies Rape Accusation: Claims He Refused Sex with Accuser

Footballer Jack Diamond's Defense

Sunderland winger Jack Diamond, 23, has claimed in court that he refused to have sex with a woman who later accused him of rape. Diamond explained to the jury at Newcastle Crown Court that he stopped her when she "got on top of him" because he felt things were "getting a bit too serious." He admitted to kissing her later to comfort her, but she left, saying, "I think the moment has gone."

The Allegation

Diamond, who met the woman on the dating site Tinder, is accused of attacking her at the home he shared with his teammate Anthony Patterson. The footballer, who had been in a long-term relationship before, expressed regret for his "immaturity" towards relationships during that time. However, he denies the charges of rape and assault by penetration.

The Trial Continues

The trial at Newcastle Crown Court is ongoing, and Diamond maintains his innocence. The jury will decide the outcome of the case.
