Steve Bruce Reveals Turning Down Management Offers in England

Steve Bruce Reveals Turning Down Management Offers in England

Open to Working Abroad

Steve Bruce, the former Manchester United legend, has disclosed that he has rejected multiple offers to return to management in England. The 62-year-old, who has been out of work since leaving West Brom in 2022, has expressed his interest in returning to the game but has remained tight-lipped about the possibility of working in Saudi Arabia. Bruce stated, "I've had many people ask me if I'd go to Saudi Arabia and the simple answer is, I'm not going to reveal anything."

Keen on a Job Abroad

Bruce revealed that he turned down recent offers from various clubs as he didn't feel they were the right fit for him. However, he expressed his openness to working abroad if an opportunity arises. He said, "I'd be open to a job abroad if it comes up. I'm very open-minded."

Respecting Clubs' Privacy

Despite the interest from other clubs, Bruce has chosen not to disclose their identities, stating that it would be disrespectful. He said, "I think revealing the clubs who were interested in me would be very disrespectful, so I won't."

Avoiding Speculation

Bruce also stated that he would prefer not to speculate about management jobs while there is already a manager in place. He finds it disrespectful to engage in speculation when someone is currently holding the position. He added, "I've stated before that I'd like to get back into management but I find speculation when there's a manager in place to be very disrespectful."

Open to Different Roles

Bruce has expressed his willingness to work in various capacities within football, not limiting himself to solely being a manager. He stated, "I'm looking to get back into football, whether that's an international job, a director of football, an assistant to an up-and-coming manager, or a consultation role. I'm open to anything as I miss the game."

Experience as a Football Manager

With a wealth of experience in football management, Bruce has coached teams such as Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Wigan, Aston Villa, Sunderland, and Birmingham City. At his age, international management is an appealing prospect for him, but he reiterated that he finds it disrespectful to engage in speculation while a manager is currently in place. He concluded, "Once the manager position is free, then they can give me a call."
