Sir Alex Fergusons Infamous Hairdryer Rant Revealed: Tea Cups Smashed and Almost a Broken Arm

Former Footballer Recounts Shocking Incident

A retired Romanian striker, Marin Radu II, has revealed one of Sir Alex Ferguson's worst 'hairdryer' rants during a match between Romanian side FC Argeș Pitești and Aberdeen in the 1981 UEFA Cup. The legendary manager, known for his close-up screaming and spitting outbursts, reportedly flew into a rage and almost broke his own arm.

Tea Cups and Tray of Mugs Thrown

As FC Argeș Pitești took a 2-0 lead at half-time, Marin said Fergie, who managed Aberdeen at the time, "couldn't believe what was happening." In a fit of rage, he smashed a huge pot of tea and hurled a tray of mugs against the locker room wall. The sound of broken tea cups and Fergie's loud voice could be heard from the next room.

Aberdeen's Comeback and Result

Despite the tense atmosphere, Aberdeen managed to pull it back in the second half, and the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Aberdeen went on to qualify for the third round of the UEFA Cup but eventually lost against Hamburger SV.

Nearly Transferred to Aberdeen

Marin, who played for the Romanian national team, claimed that Sir Alex Ferguson wanted him to transfer to Aberdeen. Unfortunately, the transfer did not happen, although Marin said it would have been a "huge honor" to play for Aberdeen and be coached by Fergie.

The Infamous Beckham Incident

Sir Alex Ferguson was known for his volatile outbursts and confrontations with players. The most infamous incident involved David Beckham, where Fergie kicked a boot that hit Beckham's eye after the winger swore following an FA Cup defeat against Arsenal.

Fergie Reflects on 'Hairdryer' Moments

Fergie admitted that although he didn't like the 'hairdryer' term at the time, he can now find the comedy in it. He emphasized that his outbursts were temporary and that the players never held a grudge. According to Fergie, the truth is the most important part.
