Saudi Riches Tempt Bruno - The £65m-a-Season Offer That Could Shatter Records

Holy crap. I never thought I'd see the day when a player could earn more in a week than I make in three years. But here we are in 2025, and the Saudi spending spree shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.

Al-Hilal have come knocking for Bruno Fernandes. Again. And this time they're not messing around.

The Kind of Money That Makes Your Eyes Water

According to Ben Jacobs (who's usually pretty solid with these things), Al-Hilal have put together a package that would make Bruno one of teh highest-paid athletes on the planet - £65 million PER SEASON over three years. Let that sink in. That's nearly £200m just in wages.

But that's not even the crazy part.

They're apparently willing to smash the British transfer record to make it happen. Remember when Chelsea splashed £115m on Moises Caicedo back in 2023? That could look like pocket change if Al-Hilal get their way.

Bruno's Silence Speaks Volumes?

What's interesting is that Fernandes hasn't immediately shut this down. My source at Old Trafford (who texted me at 3am last night - thanks for that, mate) says there's genuine concern behind the scenes. The Portuguese midfielder hasn't responded to the offer yet.

United obviously don't want to sell their captain. Duh.

But with the financial mess the club's been in... I wonder if their resolve might crack if the Saudis wave enough cash in their faces. God knows they need funds for their own transfer plans.

The Mo Salah Factor

Remember last summer when Al-Hilal set aside £510m for Mo Salah? I was in a pub in Liverpool when that news broke. The bartender just laughed and said, "They could offer a billion and he'd still stay." Turns out he was right.

Now they've got that money burning a hole in their pocket.

The Club World Cup starts June 15th, and my understanding is they're desperate to parade a superstar signing before then. Bruno fits the bill perfectly.

Amorim's Not Having It

I spoke with someone close to Amorim back in April (we were at the same charity thing in Lisbon). He was adamant that keeping Bruno is non-negotiable for the new manager.

You can see why. Despite being 30, Fernandes is still putting up ridiculous numbers - playing 55+ games a season adn contributing 30+ goals and assists. The man's a machine.

When asked about Real Madrid's interest a couple months back, Amorim was crystal clear: "No, it's not going to happen. He's not going anywhere because I've already told him."

Strong words. But £65m a season has a way of changing conversations.

Would YOU Turn Down That Kind of Cash?

I had dinner with three former Premier League players last week. We got onto this topic, and all three admitted they'd "swim to Saudi" for that kind of money. One of them, who shall remain nameless, actually said: "I'd carry Bruno's luggage there myself if he promised me 1% of the deal."

Footballers have short careers. Bruno's got maybe 4-5 years at the top level left.

This is life-changing, generational wealth we're talking about.

But it's also Manchester United - the club he captains. The history, the prestige, the Premier League... it's not an easy decision.

What would you do?

I honestly don't know what I'd choose. And that's what makes this summer's transfer window so fascinating to watch unfold.
