Allardyce and Bruce in the Running
Former Premier League managers Sam Allardyce and Steve Bruce have reportedly expressed interest in becoming the next manager of the Republic of Ireland national football team. The position has been vacant since Stephen Kenny's departure last month.
Favorites and Competition
While Allardyce and Bruce have thrown their hats into the ring, it is believed that Bayern Munich assistant manager Anthony Barry is the current favorite for the job. Barry, who has worked closely with Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea and Bayern Munich, also has previous coaching experience with Ireland.
Out of Work and Looking for a Challenge
Both Allardyce and Bruce are currently without managerial roles and are eager to get back into the game. Bruce, who left West Brom last October, has expressed his interest in the Ireland job, stating that it would suit him. Allardyce, who had a brief stint at Leeds United last season, failed to keep the team in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen who will ultimately take charge of the Boys in Green, but with experienced candidates like Allardyce, Bruce, and Barry in the mix, the decision is sure to be a tough one.
