Rugby Heroes Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow to Receive CBEs for Charity Work

Rugby Legends Honored

Rugby heroes Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow are set to receive CBEs in the upcoming New Year’s Honours list. The honors come as a result of their tireless efforts to raise awareness and funds for charities associated with motor neurone disease, a cause that hits close to home for Rob, who has been battling the disease for four years.

Record-Breaking Fundraising

Kevin Sinfield, now England’s rugby union defence coach, has raised over £9 million for the cause through his ultra-endurance challenges in honor of his friend Rob. His most recent feat was running seven ultra-marathons in seven days across the UK. In May, he ran the Leeds Marathon alongside Rob and even carried him across the finish line.

Royal Recognition

Their incredible efforts have not gone unnoticed, as they are now set to join the ranks of the British Empire’s Commanders, receiving CBEs in the New Year’s Honours. A source close to the situation said, "The image of Kevin carrying Rob over the finishing line of the Leeds Marathon moved the nation."

Safety First

While many fans have expressed interest in running alongside Kevin during his challenges, his fundraiser requests that for the safety of all involved, people refrain from doing so. Instead, supporters are encouraged to watch from a safe distance.
