Rio Ferdinand reveals five wingers who would help Hojlund score for Man Utd including Dwight McNeil and Jacob Murphy

Rio Ferdinand, the legendary former Manchester United player, has shared his insights on which wingers could make a difference for Rasmus Hojlund, the young forward who recently joined the Red Devils. Ferdinand believes that Hojlund has not been receiving quality service from United's current wingers, which has affected his performance in the Premier League. In a recent episode of his show, Ferdinand named five wingers who he believes could help Hojlund start scoring for the team.

Struggles in the Premier League

Since his arrival from Atalanta in a £72million deal over the summer, 20-year-old Hojlund has not been able to find the back of the net or provide any assists in his 12 Premier League appearances so far. However, he has shown promise in the Champions League, scoring five goals in five games. Ferdinand believes that the lack of quality service from United's wingers has been a contributing factor to Hojlund's struggles in the league.

Ferdinand's recommendations

Ferdinand suggested that United should consider bringing in wingers such as Michael Olise, Jack Harrison, Dwight McNeil, and Jacob Murphy. According to Ferdinand, these players have shown a strong ability to cross the ball, which would greatly benefit Hojlund's goal-scoring potential. He emphasized that these wingers prioritize creating opportunities for their teammates by either beating the full-back and crossing or providing a well-timed cross.

Criticism of United's transfer policy

In addition to discussing Hojlund's situation, Ferdinand also criticized Manchester United's transfer policy in recent years. He claimed that only one player, Bruno Fernandes, has managed to retain his value since joining the club. Ferdinand expressed doubt that United would be able to recoup the same amount of money they paid for players like Hojlund and Jadon Sancho if they were to be sold. He further questioned the value of other players in the squad, including Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Diogo Dalot, Amad Diallo, and Donny van de Beek.
