A heartwarming story unfolded at Fontwell as a lucky punter, who won a £7,000 bet while in a coma, shed tears of joy after another big win. Former bricklayer Trevor Jacobs, who was surrounded by his loved ones, celebrated his latest victory at the track.
Astonishing Recovery
Last March, Trevor Jacobs won £7,000 while lying in intensive care after his son placed four bets on three horses. The consultant who broke the news to Jacobs couldn't believe his eyes and called it a miracle. Despite being unable to move or talk, Jacobs experienced the thrill of victory.
Back on the Racecourse
On Wednesday, Jacobs continued his fairytale recovery as his horse Soigneux Bell won a hurdle race. Although the win earned him £4,357, less than his bet, being back on the racecourse meant the world to him. Jacobs, wrapped in a blanket in his wheelchair, paid tribute to the incredible care he received during his time in the hospital.
A Grateful Heart
Jacobs expressed his gratitude to the nurses who looked after him during his 16-month hospital stay. He tearfully acknowledged the amazing work of the NHS and the hospital staff who made him feel like he was at home. The emotional punter wished that he could bring the nurses to the racecourse to celebrate his victory.

A Brush with Death
Jacobs' life took a dramatic turn after he returned from a golfing holiday and his leg suddenly went weak. After managing to crawl down the stairs and call his son, he was placed into a coma as his condition worsened. Doctors diagnosed him with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a disease that affects bodily functions. Despite facing death twice, Jacobs fought back and proved that miracles can happen.
