Pepe's Hot-Headed Reputation Strikes Again
Pepe, the 40-year-old Porto defender, has been sent off for the second time in just 14 games after throwing a punch at a Sporting Lisbon player. Known for his fiery temper, Pepe's actions could not be defended, even by his own boss.
16 Career Dismissals
This latest incident marks Pepe's 16th dismissal throughout his career.
A Clash in the Primeira Liga
During a crucial Primeira Liga match against Sporting Lisbon on Monday evening, Pepe lost his cool when wing-back Matheus Reis bumped into him while he was setting up for a free-kick. The veteran defender retaliated by swinging his fist backwards and striking Reis in the face.
Caught on VAR
Referee João Pinheiro initially missed the incident, but it was later caught on a VAR check. With no other option, Pinheiro had to give Pepe his marching orders.

Porto's Defeat
Porto was already trailing in the game, with former Coventry star Viktor Gyokeres scoring in the first half. Just nine minutes after Pepe's red card, Pedro Goncalves added another goal for Sporting Lisbon.
Conceição's Response
Porto boss Sérgio Conceição admitted that the decision to send off Pepe was "correct" and even claimed to have seen Reis bleeding. However, he also stated that Pepe had been "provoked."
"Pepe is a man who has given us so much and will continue to do so. We are all with him," Conceição added.
Repeat Offender
This is the second time Pepe has been shown a red card this season, following his dismissal in the Supertaca against Benfica.
