Who is Pedro Pinto?

Pedro Pinto, a Portuguese-American journalist and presenter, has made a name for himself in the world of sport. With over 25 years of experience in media, communications, and sport, Pinto has become a familiar face on television screens.

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Pinto moved to the US for college and graduated with a degree in communications and marketing from the University of North Carolina. He also earned a degree from the Carolina School of Broadcasting.

Pinto began his career as a TV presenter in Portugal before joining CNN International in 1998 as a sports anchor and correspondent based in Atlanta, Georgia. During his time at CNN, he covered major events such as the 2002 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Champions League finals.

Pinto later returned to Portuguese television before taking up a role with CNN in London. In this position, he had the opportunity to interview top sports stars such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Sir Alex Ferguson.

Pedro Pinto: A Man of Many Talents

Aside from his work in sports media, Pinto is also a successful businessman. He is the founder and CEO of Empower Sports, a sports communications agency with offices in Lisbon, London, and São Paulo. His agency works with various players, coaches, clubs, and federations.

Pinto is also active on social media, boasting over 24,000 fans and followers on Instagram and interacting with over 70,000 fans and followers on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, Pinto also has a good working knowledge of French.

Pedro Pinto and UEFA

Pinto's involvement with UEFA goes beyond his role as a presenter. From 2014 to 2018, he was in charge of UEFA's communications department, leading all editorial and digital content, press office, and corporate communications campaigns. During his time at UEFA, Pinto created the award-winning #EqualGame campaign, promoting inclusion and diversity.

Although he left his role in 2018, Pinto still hosts the UEFA Champions League draws, showcasing his expertise and passion for the sport.

Most recently, in August 2023, Pinto co-hosted the draw, alongside Reshmin Chowdhury, in Monaco.
