Oleksandr Usyk Reveals Plans to Switch Sports if he Beats Tyson Fury in Undisputed Title Fight

Usyk to Take Up Football if Victorious

Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian boxer, has made a surprising announcement regarding his future plans. In an interview, Usyk revealed that if he defeats Tyson Fury in their upcoming fight, he will be switching sports and pursuing a career in football. The highly anticipated match between Usyk and Fury is scheduled to take place in February next year.

Postponed Battle

The heavyweight clash between Usyk and Fury was initially set to happen on December 23. However, it was postponed due to Fury's controversial win over UFC star Francis Ngannou. Despite the delay, fans are eagerly awaiting the showdown between these two boxing giants.

New Sport, New Challenge

If Usyk emerges victorious against Fury, it could mark his final fight in professional boxing. The 36-year-old athlete has already signed a contract to play football for Polissya, the top football team in Ukraine. Usyk's one-year deal with Polissya will see him embark on a new challenge in his native country.

Football Aspirations

Usyk's football aspirations have been evident since February 2022 when he made an appearance for Polissya in a friendly match against Veres. Although he missed a scoring opportunity during the game, it didn't dampen his passion for the sport. In fact, he has expressed interest in trying his luck in English football, praising its physicality and toughness compared to other leagues.

It remains to be seen how Usyk's transition from professional boxing to football will unfold, but one thing is for sure: if he defeats Tyson Fury, he will be making waves in a whole new arena.
