Nicky Henderson Reveals Next Race for Rising Star Willmount, but Expresses Frustration with Tolworth Hurdle Move

Willmount to Head to Newbury

Exciting hurdler Willmount, who remains undefeated in three starts, is set to make his next appearance at Newbury, according to trainer Nicky Henderson. The five-year-old will compete in an introductory hurdle race on December 30.

Tolworth Hurdle Relocated

In a controversial move, the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle has been relocated from Sandown to Aintree on Boxing Day. The race will now be known as the Formby Novices' Hurdle.

Displeasure from Henderson

Henderson expressed his frustration with the decision to move the Tolworth Hurdle, as it disrupts his plans for Willmount. The previous Tolworth Hurdle served as a stepping stone to the Cheltenham Festival for horses like Constitution Hill. Henderson criticized the move and stated that Willmount would have competed in the race if it had remained at Sandown.

Newbury as Alternate Option

Due to the relocation of the Tolworth Hurdle, Henderson will now have to chart a different course for Willmount. The horse's owner has chosen to bypass the Aintree race on Boxing Day. Willmount is currently priced at 12-1 for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, just behind stablemate Jeriko Du Reponet at 8-1.

Positive Outlook

Henderson remains optimistic about Willmount's future and praises the quality of his novice horses this year. He also mentions that he does not work Willmount and Jeriko Du Reponet together, as it is difficult to gauge their abilities without a direct competition on the track.
