Record-Breaking Sale
The final jersey worn by NFL star Tom Brady has sold for more than £1 million at auction, setting a new record for an American football top. The hammer came down at $1,391,000 — about £1.1 million — making it the most expensive NFL shirt ever sold.
Brady's Legacy
Tom Brady, often referred to as the Greatest of all Time or the G.O.A.T, won seven Super Bowls in his 27-season career. The jersey in question was worn by Brady during a wildcard game against the Dallas Cowboys, which the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ultimately lost 31-14.
A Memorable Farewell
In February, Brady announced his retirement at the age of 46. The grass-stained jersey, signed by the iconic quarterback, featured the message "My last game G.O.A.T out!" written on the back. The auction took place at Sotheby's in Las Vegas.
Breaking the Previous Record
The previous record for the most expensive NFL shirt sold at auction was held by Joe Montana's San Francisco 49ers top from Super Bowl XXIII, which fetched $1,212,000 or £950,000. Brady's jersey now holds the new record.

A Historic Moment
A spokesperson for Sotheby's said, "Tom Brady's Game-Worn and Signed Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jersey from his final game in the NFL took centre stage, setting a new record for any football jersey at auction. Donning this white home jersey during the NFC Wildcard Playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys, Tom Brady would end a legendary and prolific 23-season career in the NFL."
Mystery Buyer
The final jersey worn by Tom Brady was snapped up by a mystery buyer. The identity of the buyer remains unknown.
