A Battle with Kidney Problems

Davis faced the challenge of receiving dialysis three times a week due to his kidney problems. After a three-year wait, he finally received a kidney transplant in 2009.

A Remarkable Career

Davis, hailing from Long Eaton in Derbyshire, reached a staggering weight of 334lbs during the peak of his Mr Universe success. He is survived by his partner Helen Burrows and their daughter.

Tributes Pour In

Local councillor Richard McRae expressed his condolences, describing Davis as a "very well-known and respected gentleman" who put Long Eaton on the map. Davis was not only Mr Universe in 1996, but he also held titles such as Mr. UK, Mr. Britain, Mr. Europe, and Mr. Pro Universe.

Close friend Kuldeep Bhardwaj shared his grief, stating, "Just received terrible news from Helen Burrows about the passing of my friend Shaun Davis. I'm absolutely devastated. Rest in Peace, my friend. Your smile and laughter will be missed."

An Advocate for Organ Donation

Davis used his platform to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation. In a 2009 interview, he emphasized the need for more people to sign up for the transplant donor register, as there are countless individuals awaiting life-saving organs. He shared a heartwarming story about his daughter's letter to Father Christmas, expressing her wish for a kidney for her father.

"That broke me to tears because she's been praying for a kidney for her daddy. She asked for one last Christmas and it didn't come," Davis revealed.

Our thoughts go out to Shaun Davis' family and friends during this difficult time.
