Monday's Racing Gold: My Windsor NAP Could Be The Banker You've Been Waiting For

God, I love Mondays. Not because I'm some weirdo who enjoys the start of the work week, but because the racing calendar often throws up some absolute gems when most punters are still nursing their weekend hangovers.

Last Monday I tipped up three losers and my editor hasn't let me forget it. "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally," he texted me at 6am this morning. Charming.

Windsor Wonder Worth Every Penny

I've spent hours poring over today's cards (well, more like 45 minutes while simultaneously trying to stop my toddler from redecorating the living room with yogurt), and I keep coming back to GOLDEN CIRCET in the 5.25 at Windsor.

This horse absolutely cruised home at Bath on his return to turf. The way he finished that day screamed "give me more distance!" and that's exactly what he gets today. Looked like he had another gear left, honestly.

Plus, they've booked Oisin Murphy. Remember when I bumped into him at Ascot last year and he completely blanked me? Still backing his rides though because I'm not petty. Much.

Sand Specialist Looking Tasty

My second best comes at Kempton where CHARMAINE (3.45) looks primed to follow up her Southwell success. The handicapper's only nudged her up 2lb which seems... generous? James Fanshawe's horses are flying right now - had three winners from his last seven runners when I checked this morning.

Back in 2019 I backed one of his horses at 16/1 at Newmarket and it got beaten a nose. Still hurts.

Quick Ground? No Problem!

ASINARA completes my trio of selections in the 4.50 at Windsor. Ran a cracker at Haydock nine days ago when stepping up to this trip for teh first time. The ground was riding quick that day and should be similar today.

Remains on the same mark. Screams "back me."

Listen. I've had a rough couple of weeks with my selections. My wife has banned me from "investing" more than £20 a day after what she's calling "The Doncaster Disaster" (don't ask). But these three really do look solid.

The Boring But Necessary Bit About Not Losing Your House

I once met a guy at Cheltenham who told me he'd remortgaged his house to back a "sure thing" in the Gold Cup. His horse fell at the first. Poor Dave.

Gambling should be fun, not financially ruinous. So please:

  • Set yourself proper time and money limits before you start
  • Only ever use cash you can genuinely afford to kiss goodbye
  • When you've lost your stake, walk away - tomorrow's another day
  • Avoid betting when you're in a bad headspace
  • If you need support, contact Gamcare at www.gamcare.org.uk
  • Or reach out to Gamble Aware at www.begambleaware.org

There's a more detailed guide on responsible gambling practices on The Sun website if you need it. Racing's the greatest sport on earth... let's keep it enjoyable.
