Michael van Gerwen, the Dutch darts superstar, held nothing back in a recent podcast with Jaackmate, where he expressed his explosive opinions on his fellow players.
Shave Your Chest, Luke!
Van Gerwen jokingly advised Luke Humphries, the new world champion, to shave his chest, and revealed that he often teases him about it. He even makes bets with Humphries, who promises to shave if he wins a tournament. Van Gerwen even asked Humphries' girlfriend if she approves, and she responded positively, albeit reluctantly!
Queen of the Palace
Van Gerwen has previously mentored Fallon Sherrock, the Queen of the Palace, and shared his thoughts on her. He mentioned that she is quite shy and would benefit from being more confident in her game.
Love and Hate with Anderson
When it comes to Gary Anderson, Van Gerwen described their relationship as a mix of love and hate. Anderson can be moody and complains at times, but then he returns to playing again. Van Gerwen finds it difficult to judge him.

Van Gerwen's Brutal Honesty
During the podcast, Van Gerwen was asked about rivals who annoy him and his honest approach to interviews. He admitted that there are a few darts players he would like to punch in the face. He emphasized the importance of being true to oneself and not trying to be someone else. He finds it easier to interview dart players compared to football players because he has never received any training in conducting interviews.
Call of Duty for Relaxation
Van Gerwen, who recently lost in the quarter-finals of the Worlds to Scott Williams, revealed that his motivation in darts is the thrill of winning. He enjoys the overall experience of playing and doesn't particularly like watching darts or anything related to himself. To relax, he plays Call of Duty online with his friends.
The Downside of Darts
When discussing the worst aspect of darts, Van Gerwen mentioned that he enjoys the Premier League but finds the combination with the ProTours challenging. At times, he would rather be at home with his kids.
