Man City Holds Highest Chances of Winning
A supercomputer named BETSiE has determined the probabilities of each team winning the Champions League this season. With more than a 30% chance of victory, Manchester City is favored to secure their second Champions League trophy in a row. The simulation, which takes into account various data points, including expected goals and assists, ran 100,000 times.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid Follow Behind
Bayern Munich is in second place with a 15% chance of European glory, while Real Madrid is the third most likely team to lift the trophy at Wembley Stadium in May. Despite never winning the competition before and returning for the first time since 2017, Arsenal is the fourth most likely team to win the Champions League.
English Clubs' Chances of Success
Newcastle and Manchester United's chances of success are looking slim. Newcastle fell to the bottom of Group F and has just a 25% chance of making it to the last 16. Manchester United's recent loss to Copenhagen has left them with less than a one percent chance of winning the Champions League.
Other European Giants with a Shot
Teams like PSG, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan all have a small chance of going all the way. However, if the statistics are accurate, it seems that the Wembley arch will be lit Sky Blue, as Manchester City continues to set the standard for world football.
