Jockey Graham Lee recovering well from surgery but long-term future uncertain after fall

Donations flood in as racing world prays for Graham Lee's recovery

Jockey Graham Lee, who won the Grand National in 2004, is currently recovering in intensive care after a horrific fall at Newcastle on Friday night. Lee underwent surgery to stabilize fractures in his cervical spine and protect his spinal cord. While the surgery was successful, the extent of his long-term recovery remains uncertain. The racing community has rallied behind Lee, with donations pouring in to support his medical expenses.

JustGiving page nears £100,000 mark

Lee's 18-year-old daughter, Amy, set up a JustGiving page to raise funds for her father's recovery. The page has already surpassed the £80,000 mark and is closing in on £100,000. Amy expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of support and explained that she shares each message and donation with her father. She emphasized how much of a difference the support will make in his recovery and thanked everyone for their generosity.

In the meantime, Lee remains in intensive care as the racing world anxiously awaits updates on his condition. Donations to the JustGiving page can still be made to help support his recovery.

More to follow.
