Shock Return to Stamford Bridge

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard recently made a surprise comeback to Stamford Bridge, taking on the role of interim manager after the dismissal of Graham Potter.

Terry's Absence

Many fans expected Lampard's former teammate and Chelsea captain, John Terry, to join him as an assistant coach. However, Terry did not receive an invitation and instead joined Leicester as Dean Smith's right-hand man.

The Real Reason

Lampard has now revealed why he didn't call on Terry to join his backroom staff. In an interview with John Obi Mikel on The Obi One Podcast, Lampard explained that he was only allowed to bring two staff members back to Chelsea and had already made his choices.

Lampard's Respect for Terry

Lampard expressed his utmost respect for Terry on every level and clarified that the decision to invite him was not up to him. He also mentioned that the club approached him quickly, giving him little time to make staff decisions.

Chelsea's Disappointing Results

During Lampard's second managerial spell with Chelsea, the team only managed to win one out of 11 games under his leadership. Mauricio Pochettino was later appointed as the club's full-time manager.

Terry's Dream

John Terry recently admitted on the same podcast that it was his dream to manage Chelsea someday. However, he conceded that he doesn't believe it will ever happen, causing him some pain and lingering in the back of his mind.
