Former professional football player Mario Mosbock, who played for St Polten in Austria, made a surprising career move by quitting football at the age of 21 to pursue a career as a professional poker player. Mosbock, now 27, found success on the poker table and recently banked an impressive £3,693,018 at a prestigious tournament in Las Vegas.

Astonishing Win at High-Stakes Tournament

Mosbock's incredible win came at the WPT Big One for One Drop event held at the luxurious Wynn Hotel and Casino. The Austrian poker pro paid a whopping $1 million (£791,822) to enter the tournament and secured the second-place prize. The top prize of $7,114,500 (£5.63 million) went to Belarussian player Mikita Badziakouski.

A Rising Star in the Poker World

Mosbock's victory in Las Vegas solidifies his position among the elite players in the poker world. Prior to this win, he had already won over £1 million from various poker tournaments. With his latest success, Mosbock's total winnings now amount to an astonishing £7.5 million.

Defeating Top Poker Pros

The former footballer's victory was no easy feat. Mosbock had to outplay 15 top poker professionals, including British star Stephen Chidwick and American legends Phil Ivey, Isaac Haxton, and Nick Petrangelo. His impressive skill and strategic gameplay led him to claim the second-place prize.
