Former Brazil Star Fred Forced Out of Car at Gunpoint in Terrifying Robbery

This is the shocking moment that ex-Brazil star Fred was held at gunpoint and forced out of his car during an armed robbery. The incident occurred on Thursday night after the former striker left the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro following his club's league victory over São Paulo.

The Terrifying Incident

Camera footage captured the harrowing scene as three men got out of a white car that had been following Fred and approached his vehicle. They then forced him out at gunpoint, while two other men on a motorbike appeared to be keeping a lookout for police nearby.

Fred, 40, quickly sought refuge behind a nearby tree and lay on the pavement with his face down. The robbers not only took his mobile phone but also looted his luxury SUV.

A Footballing Legend

Full name Frederico Chaves Guedes, Fred is regarded as one of Fluminense's greatest goalscorers, having scored 199 goals across all competitions for the club. He also played for Atletico Mineiro, Cruzeiro, and Lyon in France, winning three consecutive Ligue 1 titles with the latter.

As a member of the Brazilian national team, Fred made his debut in 2005 and was selected for the 2006 World Cup. However, he became a scapegoat for Brazil's failure to win the 2014 tournament after their devastating 7-1 loss to Germany in the semi-finals.

Charitable Endeavors

In 2020, Fred completed a 370-mile charity bike ride from Belo Horizonte to Rio, raising money for charity. Sponsors of the ride donated food kits for each kilometer he rode, resulting in approximately 4,000 food baskets being distributed.

Unfortunately, Fred's return to Fluminense coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, and he was greeted by empty streets upon his arrival. Despite the challenging circumstances, Fred went on to solidify his place in the club's history books as their second all-time top goalscorer.

Current Investigation

As of now, there have been no official comments from the police, and no arrests have been made in connection with the robbery.
