Former Bournemouth Chairman Switches Allegiance to Newcastle

Eddie Mitchell, former chairman of Bournemouth, has become a Newcastle fan after being banned from his beloved club.

Eddie Mitchell, former chairman of Bournemouth, has revealed that he is now a Newcastle fan after being banned from his former club. Mitchell, who played a key role in bringing Eddie Howe back to Bournemouth in 2012, admitted to being "devastated" that he will not be able to watch Howe's return to the Vitality Stadium. Mitchell was banned from the club soon after Russian businessman Maxim Demin became a major shareholder, and has now thrown his support behind Howe's Newcastle side.

The History-Making Decision that Led to Bournemouth's Premier League Promotion

Mitchell negotiated Howe's return from Burnley in 2012, a decision that would ultimately lead to Bournemouth's historic promotion to the Premier League. Under Howe's guidance, the Cherries went from the bottom of League Two to the top-flight for the first time in their history. Mitchell was responsible for introducing Demin to the club, but was banned shortly after the Russian purchased the team.

From Cherries Fan to Toon Supporter

Mitchell, a lifelong Cherries fan, expressed his disappointment at being banned from his beloved club. He stated that he received a letter from a solicitor informing him that he was no longer welcome at Bournemouth, and that police would be called if he attempted to attend a match. As a result, Mitchell has switched allegiance to Newcastle and is now a supporter of Eddie Howe's side. He praised Howe's footballing style and energy, and believes that his enthusiasm is contagious.

The Eddie Howe Fan Club

Mitchell is a dedicated member of the Eddie Howe Fan Club, having witnessed his work during his early managerial days. Howe took over as interim boss of Bournemouth in 2009 and helped the struggling League Two side avoid relegation. Mitchell described Howe as hardworking, dedicated, and honest, although his work ethic sometimes clashed with Mitchell's own. Despite their differences, Mitchell recognized the wisdom in keeping Howe as manager and still misses working with him.
