Clear-Cut Decision
According to World Athletics president, Lord Sebastian Coe, female Olympians will never win again if they have to compete against transgender athletes. Coe, who banned trans women from female competitions last year, stated that the decision was based on following the science.
Protecting the Female Category
Coe, a former Tory MP and two-time Olympic champion, explained that his role is to protect the female category. He emphasized that if he doesn't fulfill this duty, no woman will ever win another medal again.
Competing at Lower Levels
While Coe supports trans athletes competing at lower levels, he hasn't ruled out the possibility of introducing a third category specifically for trans women. However, he clarified that it would still be classified as a male category.
Concerns from Former Olympian
These remarks from Coe come just days after former British swimmer, Sharron Davies, who lost out on a gold medal in 1980 to a competitor taking testosterone, warned against trans women competing against females.
