Haaland Keeps Ballon d’Or Promise
Erling Haaland snubbed Gary Lineker during his goal celebration against Young Boys on Tuesday night, opting instead for a tribute to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba. The Manchester City star had promised to mimic Lineker's famous goal celebration at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, which was co-hosted by Drogba and Lineker. Haaland scored a penalty and ran to the corner flag, pumping his arms out to the side, just like Drogba used to do.
Lineker Challenge
During the Ballon d’Or ceremony, Drogba challenged Haaland to choose between his celebration and Lineker's trademark 'fist pumping' celebration for his next goal. Haaland accepted the challenge and promised to think of both legends when he scored his next goal.
Haaland Delivers in Champions League
Haaland made good on his promise during Manchester City's Champions League match against Young Boys. He scored a penalty in the 23rd minute and followed it up with a second-half strike. The goals helped City secure qualification to the next round of the competition.
Will Lineker Get His Tribute?
After Haaland's tribute to Drogba, fans are now wondering if he will pull out a Lineker celebration in Manchester City's next match against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
