England's Possible Path to Euro 2024 Final Revealed: Will it be a Dream or a Nightmare?

Englands Possible Path to Euro 2024 Final Revealed: Will it be a Dream or a Nightmare?

The draw for Euro 2024 has taken place and England now knows their group stage opponents - Serbia, Denmark, and Slovenia. While a smooth journey to the final is possible, one slip up in the group stage could turn it into a nightmare for the Three Lions.

Group Stage and Knockout Rounds

England will kick-off their tournament against Serbia on June 16, followed by a clash with Denmark four days later. Gareth Southgate's men will then face Slovenia on June 25 in hopes of sealing their spot in the knockout rounds.

If England tops the group, they would potentially face the best third-placed team from Group D/E/F, which could be Austria, Czech Republic, or Slovakia.

Progressing from the last 16 would set up a potential quarter-final tie against Italy on July 6 - a rematch of the Euro 2020 final, which Italy won on penalties.

Challenging Path Ahead

While England's path to the final could be favorable, it won't be without challenges. In the semi-finals, they could face France, giving Harry Kane a chance at revenge after his penalty miss against Les Bleus in the 2022 World Cup.

In the final, England could potentially face tough opponents like Germany, Spain, or Portugal. However, it all hinges on their performance in the group stage.

One Slip Up, Nightmare Path

But what happens if England slips up in the group stage? It could lead to a nightmare path to the final. Coming second in the group would mean a clash against bitter rivals Germany in the last 16.

If the host nation is beaten, England could potentially face Spain in the quarter-finals. And in their journey to the final, Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal could be waiting for them in Munich.

While the path to the final is full of possibilities, one thing is certain - England must be at their best and avoid any slip-ups in the group stage to secure a dream run to the showpiece in Berlin on July 14.
