Deontay Wilder Reveals Backup Plan if Anthony Joshua Fight Falls Through

Deontay Wilder has a Plan B in place if his long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua doesn't happen

Deontay Wilder has revealed that he has a backup plan in case his highly anticipated grudge match with Anthony Joshua doesn't come to fruition. The rivals recently finalized a multi-million-pound deal for their long-overdue showdown. However, Wilder has a contingency plan if the fight falls through, and it involves facing former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

Wilder's Focus on Joshua, but Ngannou Could Be Next

Assuming both Wilder and Joshua get through their respective fights with Joseph Parker and Otto Wallin this weekend, they are set to face each other in a lucrative showdown in Saudi Arabia on March 9. However, if their clash doesn't happen, Wilder is prepared to turn his attention to Ngannou. Speaking to talkSPORT, Wilder said, "It can happen that way where I see both of them, but I know for sure that I am going to get one of them."

Wilder's Confidence and Freshness

Wilder, who hasn't fought since October 2021, believes his body will benefit from the long hiatus. He expressed his confidence in his upcoming fight, stating, "I'm expecting to be very fresh. I'm expecting to be intact. I got a great team on my side and we're looking for greatness. Nothing less."

The Long-Awaited Showdown with Parker

Wilder is eagerly anticipating his fight with Joseph Parker, a matchup that was supposed to happen back in 2017 when they both held heavyweight titles. Wilder is determined to add Parker's name to his list of victims, stating, "I'm looking forward to fighting him. I can't wait for it to happen. It won't be long now."

It seems that Wilder has a clear plan in place for his future fights, whether it's against Joshua or Ngannou. Fans will have to wait and see how everything unfolds, but one thing is for sure - Wilder is ready to make his mark in the boxing world once again.
