Darts Star Dodges Wasp at World Championships, Leaving Fans in Stitches

Darts star Dirk van Duijvenbode had fans in hysterics as he hilariously tried to avoid a pesky wasp during his match at the PDC World Darts Championship.

The 31-year-old, who recently recovered from shoulder surgery, faced defeat against Boris Krcmar during the tournament.

But it was the comical incident with the wasp that stole the spotlight.

During the match, with the score tied at one set apiece, Van Duijvenbode started flailing his head wildly after spotting the insect.

The crowd erupted in laughter as he attempted to dodge the wasp, and he eventually managed to escape the situation and share a smile with his opponent.

Sky Sports quickly shared a video of the moment, captioning it with: "DVD goes full Matrix mode to evade the Ally Pally wasp!"

Fans wasted no time in taking to social media to share their amusement at the incident.

"Ally Pally wasp is one bad b*****d, nicely dodged by Dirk," said one fan.

Another commented, "Daily wasp flying around at the Ally Pally! More importantly, what's it doing out this time of year?"

A third fan speculated, "I'm convinced they keep this wasp in something backstage and unleash it when they want."

And a fourth fan jokingly noted, "Ally Pally must be the only place in the UK to have wasps in December."

This isn't the first time a wasp has caused a stir at the World Championships. Earlier this year, a wasp disrupted Luke Humphries' game, and just two days ago, Ross Smith was stung three times during his match.
