Club President Punches Referee After Match in Turkey

Judicial Investigation Launched Following Unprovoked Assault

A referee in Turkey was punched by a club president after the final whistle of a top-flight match. Turkey's Minister of Justice, Yilmaz Tunc, has announced that a judicial investigation has been launched against those responsible for the unprovoked assault.

Shocking Incident Takes Place After Ankaragucu's 1-1 Draw

The disgraceful incident occurred following Ankaragucu's 1-1 draw with Rizespor. Olimpiu Morutan opened the scoring for the hosts, and Adolfo Gaich equalized for Rizespor in the dying minutes of the match.

Referee Attacked by Club President

After the match, referee Halil Umut Meler was confronted by Faruk Koca, the president of Ankaragucu. Explosive footage shows Koca swinging and connecting with a punch at the unsuspecting official. Meler fell to the floor and was kicked by another person while trying to protect his face.

Outrage and Condemnation

The vile attack has been condemned by Turkey's Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Askin Bak, who stated on social media, "We do not want to see these images on our fields, which do not suit the spirit of sports and Turkish football."
