Forgotten Chelsea Star
David Datro Fofana, the 21-year-old Chelsea striker, is reportedly on the verge of joining Burnley on loan. Fofana joined Chelsea last January in a deal worth £8 million but has only made one start for the club.
Loan Move
According to The Athletic, Burnley have agreed to sign Fofana on loan until the end of the season. Fofana had been loaned out to Bundesliga side Union Berlin but has cut short his time in Germany to join the Clarets.
Medical Examination
Fofana is expected to fly to the UK tomorrow to undergo a medical examination with Burnley. The Premier League club is looking to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season as they fight to stay in the league.
Premier League Experience
Chelsea sees Premier League experience as crucial in developing Fofana's abilities, which is why they have agreed to the loan move. There was reportedly interest from La Liga club Sevilla, but Burnley has emerged as the preferred destination.

Wage Coverage
Burnley will cover 100% of Fofana's wages during his loan spell with the club. However, there is no option for Burnley to make the deal permanent in the summer.
Performance at Union Berlin
During his time at Union Berlin in the first half of the season, Fofana managed two goals and one assist in 17 appearances.
Chelsea's Transfer Plans
Chelsea is also looking to offload several players on permanent deals this month in order to balance their books and trim their squad. Academy graduates, like Conor Gallagher, could be sold to generate profit and comply with financial fair play regulations.
