Chelsea fans furious as Raheem Sterling denied clear penalty in Carabao Cup, with no VAR in sight

Chelsea fans were left seething after their team was denied what they believe was a "stonewall penalty" against Blackburn in the Carabao Cup.

Frustration mounts

During the match, Raheem Sterling made a powerful run down the left side and was brought down inside the 18-yard box. However, referee Tim Robinson waved off the calls for a penalty, much to the disappointment of Chelsea fans.

No VAR in use

Adding fuel to the fire, replays showed that the defender Lewis Travis did not make contact with the ball. But with no VAR in use for the Carabao Cup, Chelsea fans were left fuming at the missed opportunity for a penalty decision to be reviewed.

Outrage on social media

Chelsea fans took to social media to express their frustration. One fan tweeted, "That's a stonewall penalty on Sterling. Not given. No VAR." Another fan questioned, "How's that not a penalty???" Others joined in, stating, "Another clear penalty not given" and "THAT'S A PENALTY ON STERLING AND OF COURSE THERE'S NO VAR."
