Brazilian football is in mourning following the tragic death of 21-year-old striker Felipe Diogo. Diogo, who played for Serie C club Sao Bernardo, was killed in a street shoot-out during a return visit to his hometown of Ribeirao Preto.
Young Talent with a Promising Career
Felipe Diogo had already made a name for himself in Brazilian football. He helped Sao Bernardo secure promotion last season and had made five appearances for the club this term. Prior to joining Sao Bernardo, Diogo had come up through the academies of top Brazilian clubs Cruzeiro and Botafogo.
A Tragic End
During his visit to Ribeirao Preto, Diogo was attacked by unidentified gunmen. Reports suggest that he was struck by around ten bullets. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the young player could not be saved.

Local police have opened an enquiry into the shooting and are keeping an open mind about the motive behind the killing. The investigation aims to shed light on this tragic incident that has left the football community in shock.

Sao Bernardo paid tribute to Felipe Diogo on social media, expressing their deep sorrow at his passing. They wrote, "Sao Bernardo laments with enormous sorrow the news of the death of our player Felipe Diogo Bernardes Ferreira (Felipe Diogo). May God comfort the hearts of his family in this moment of profound grief."
