Betfair Launches New Charity Initiative with Rachael Blackmore to Raise Money for Injured Jockeys Fund

Betfair introduces the 'Rachael Blackmore Serial Winners Fund' to support the Injured Jockeys' Fund

Betfair has announced the launch of a new charity initiative that aims to raise significant funds for the Injured Jockeys' Fund in Britain and Ireland. The initiative, called the 'Rachael Blackmore Serial Winners Fund', began with an initial donation of £100,000 from Betfair. In addition, Betfair will contribute an extra £5,000 every time jockey Rachael Blackmore wins a race leading up to the Grand National.

Part of Betfair's 'Serial Winner' sports documentary series

The 'Rachael Blackmore Serial Winners Fund' is a part of Betfair's ongoing 'Serial Winner' sports documentary series. To kick off the initiative, a six-minute short film documenting Blackmore's inspiring journey from humble beginnings to winning the Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup was premiered at the 'Stable Cinema' at Haydock Park on Betfair Chase day.

Potential to raise up to £250,000

Blackmore has consistently achieved an average of 30 winners per season for the past five years. With her continued success, it is estimated that the fund could reach up to £250,000 by the time of the Grand National in April.

Proceeds shared between two charities

The funds raised will be distributed equally between two charities that offer crucial support to jockeys in the UK and Ireland: the Injured Jockeys Fund and Irish Injured Jockeys. These organizations play a vital role in providing assistance to jockeys, as demonstrated by the recent injury to jockey Graham Lee.

Rachael Blackmore and Betfair express their gratitude

Betfair ambassador Rachael Blackmore expressed her excitement and gratitude towards Betfair for their generous initiative. She highlighted the essential work carried out by the Injured Jockeys Fund and Irish Injured Jockeys, emphasizing the importance of their support services for jockeys past and present. Blackmore's participation in this charity initiative demonstrates her commitment to giving back to the sport and the jockey community.

Gamble responsibly

Betfair reminds all individuals to gamble responsibly and offers resources for those seeking support. Responsible gambling includes setting time and monetary limits, only gambling with affordable funds, avoiding chasing losses, and refraining from gambling when upset, angry, or depressed.
