Barcelona Suffers Embarrassing Defeat in Mid-Season Friendly

Barca Paid Big Bucks to Play in Baffling Match

Barcelona stumbled to an embarrassing defeat in a mid-season friendly against Mexican side Club America. The Spanish giants were paid a whopping £4.3 Million to play in Dallas, Texas, just 30 hours after a La Liga clash.

Club America Emerges Victorious

In a baffling turn of events, Club America came out on top with a 3-2 win against Barcelona at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas. Despite making a quick hop across the Atlantic, Barcelona couldn't secure a victory against the Liga MX Champions.

Xavi's Rotated Team and Youthful Lineup

Barcelona manager Xavi revealed that one of the reasons for playing the match in the States was the substantial payment the club received. With a packed schedule, Xavi heavily rotated his team, fielding six teenagers in the starting XI.

Highs and Lows of the Match

Barcelona's 16-year-old Lamine Yamal opened the scoring just six minutes into the game. However, Club America quickly found their footing, with Mexican international Julian Quinones equalizing shortly after. Barca regained the lead thanks to 17-year-old Marc Guiu's goal, but Quinones struck again in the second half to level the game. In the 82nd minute, Henry Martin scored the winning goal, leaving Barcelona in misery.

Barca's Road to Redemption

Barcelona's next La Liga match is scheduled for January 4th against Las Palmas. Currently third in the standings, they have some catching up to do if they want to compete for the league title, being seven points behind Girona and Real Madrid.
