Gunners Make Approach for Onana
Arsenal has reportedly made a transfer approach to Everton regarding a potential deal for midfielder Amadou Onana. However, the London club may have to pay a substantial fee to secure his signature.
Onana's Impact at Everton
The 22-year-old Belgian international joined Everton from Lille for £33.5 million in August 2022. Since then, he has become a key player under manager Frank Lampard and remains an integral part of the Toffees team led by Sean Dyche. Onana has made 16 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring once.
Arsenal's Interest and Competition
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to be a "huge admirer" of Onana and is looking to strengthen his midfield. The Gunners are now allegedly set to make an offer for the midfielder in order to outbid other interested clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Hefty Price Tag
Everton is extremely reluctant to let Onana leave mid-season and is demanding a significant fee for the player. The Toffees reportedly expect a fee between £70 million and £90 million to even consider selling him. Onana is under contract at Everton until 2027, having signed a five-year deal upon his arrival.
